What is YogaDeveloped in India thousands of years ago, Yoga often is described as the "eight-limbed" path for living as first described in Patanjalis Yoga Sutras. However, in the Western world, Yoga primarily focuses on "asanas" (physical poses), "pranayama" (breath control), and meditation. What can I Expect?Thursday evening classes will be a beginning-level, Vinyasa-yoga based program focusing on using conscious breathing to link body and mind. Vinyasa yoga is a moderately challenging form of yoga where each asana (posture) is joined with the next to create a flowing, dance-like sequence. Since yoga is easily adapted to any body and fitness level, almost anyone can see benefits from these classes. What are some of the Benefits of YogaPreliminary studies in the United States and India suggest that Yoga maybe helpful for specific conditions, such as asthma, epilepsy, anxiety, stress and others.
